TINUBU CLINCHES 2027 PRESIDENTIAL TICKET WITH OVER 10.9 MILLION VOTES


President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general election after recording a sweeping victory in the party’s nationwide direct primary election.

The APC primary, conducted across the country’s 8,809 wards on Saturday, saw President Tinubu defeat his sole challenger, businessman Stanley Osifo, by a wide margin.

The results were officially announced on Sunday at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja by the Chairman of the APC Presidential Primary Election Committee and Returning Officer, Senator Pius Anyim.

According to the figures announced, President Tinubu secured a total of 10,999,162 votes, while Stanley Osifo polled 16,503 votes nationwide.

The APC disclosed that out of the party’s 12,643,306 registered members, about 11,069,756 members were accredited, while 11,015,665 votes were eventually cast during the exercise.

Tinubu Dominates Across States

President Tinubu recorded overwhelming victories in virtually all states of the federation, with his challenger reportedly polling zero votes in several states.

States where Osifo failed to secure any vote included the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Delta, Kogi, Ebonyi, Kwara, Borno, Kebbi, Enugu, Kaduna, Ondo, Yobe, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Ekiti, Ogun, Sokoto, Taraba, Cross River, Gombe and Osun.

In the FCT, Tinubu secured all 36,103 votes cast, while Osifo recorded none.

Kogi State also delivered all 197,370 votes to the president, while Delta State returned 407,646 votes exclusively for Tinubu.

Ebonyi State recorded 207,579 votes for the president without a single vote for Osifo, while Jigawa State also gave Tinubu all 206,520 votes cast.

In Lagos State, considered Tinubu’s political stronghold, the president polled 814,988 votes, while Osifo secured 1,186 votes.

Kaduna State delivered 618,914 votes to Tinubu with zero votes for the challenger, while Adamawa returned 644,149 votes for the president against Osifo’s 195 votes.

Borno State gave Tinubu all 414,988 votes cast, while Enugu State also returned all 383,382 votes to the incumbent president.

Osifo Records Highest Votes in Niger

Although the contest was largely dominated by the president, Osifo recorded his highest vote tally in Niger State where he secured 5,248 votes, while Tinubu polled 175,487 votes.

In Kano State, Osifo scored 2,675 votes against Tinubu’s 503,527 votes.

APC Leaders Attend Collation

The collation exercise was attended by APC governors, members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), National Working Committee (NWC), lawmakers and other senior party stakeholders.

The primary election was supervised by governors and party officials appointed as state collation officers across the federation.

Stanley Osifo had earlier emerged as the only challenger to President Tinubu after purchasing the APC’s N100 million presidential nomination form.

With the outcome of the primary, President Tinubu is now officially set to fly the APC flag in the 2027 presidential election as he seeks a second term in office.
