ADEBOYE URGES FG TO END TERRORISM WITHIN 90 DAYS OR REPLACE SECURITY CHIEFS

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has called on the Federal Government to give Nigeria’s security chiefs a 90-day deadline to eliminate terrorism or resign from office.

Adeboye made the statement in a video shared on his official X account on Tuesday, expressing deep concern over the country’s security challenges and rising cases of violence.

According to the respected cleric, security agencies must be held accountable for measurable results in the fight against terrorism and insecurity across the country.

Speaking in the video, Adeboye said the Commander-in-Chief has the authority to issue firm directives to security operatives and should demand urgent action.

“If I were asked to make suggestions, I would say quietly to our government, move fast. And tell our security chiefs, get rid of these terrorists within 90 days, or resign,” he stated.

The RCCG leader further stressed that the battle against insecurity should not only focus on armed groups but also on individuals and networks allegedly sponsoring acts of terror.

“When giving orders to the service chiefs this time around, we should make it clear to them that they are not only to eliminate the terrorists; they should eliminate their sponsors, no matter how influential they may be,” he added.

Adeboye also recalled how a former Nigerian president once issued a similar directive to security chiefs during the height of Boko Haram attacks, although he noted that the decision was not fully enforced after the deadline elapsed.

According to him, the experience influenced his current recommendation to the government.

The video resurfaced online amid debates surrounding allegations that the cleric had endorsed a political party or discouraged protests against insecurity in Nigeria.

Reacting to the controversy, RCCG released a statement defending Adeboye against what it described as false narratives and deliberate misrepresentations.

The church stated that the General Overseer has consistently maintained a non-partisan position while encouraging citizens to participate responsibly in civic and democratic processes.

RCCG also dismissed claims that Adeboye remained silent on national issues, noting that he has repeatedly spoken on insecurity, corruption, governance, economic hardship, and the need for righteous leadership in Nigeria.

“Pastor E.A. Adeboye has, on several occasions, spoken about national issues such as insecurity, corruption, economic hardship, elections, governance, and the need for righteous leadership,” the church stated.

The church added that the cleric often chooses “moral guidance, prayer, and counsel” rather than direct partisan political confrontation.

The statement reaffirmed RCCG’s commitment to correcting misleading claims involving its leader and urged the public to verify information before sharing it online.
