AKURE SOUTH CHAIRMAN FASUA SEES QUINTUPLETS SAFELY DISCHARGED AFTER INTENSIVE MEDICAL CARE

Akure, Ondo State — Quintuplets born in Akure South have been successfully discharged from the hospital after receiving weeks of intensive medical care and sustained support from the Executive Chairman of Akure South Local Government, Hon. Dr. Gbenga Timothy Fasua.

The development follows a tragic childbirth incident in which the mother of the quintuplets died shortly after delivery. Following the distress call at the time of the incident, Hon. Fasua visited the hospital to sympathise with the family and assess the condition of the newborns. During the visit, he pledged immediate assistance for their upkeep, including food items, medical support, and essential supplies, assuring the family that the local government would not abandon the children.

True to his commitment, the chairman returned with relief materials shortly after the initial visit and continued to provide support aimed at ensuring the survival and stability of the newborns during their critical early weeks.

After receiving sustained medical attention, the quintuplets were later discharged in stable condition, a development that drew appreciation from hospital authorities, government representatives, and the family.

The hospital management commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his support, alongside Hon. Fasua for his prompt intervention, describing the collaboration as significant in improving the survival chances of the newborns. Dr. Ajiji, representing the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Banji Ajaka, also praised the efforts of medical personnel and the local government chairman, noting that the response reflected effective inter-agency cooperation in emergency care delivery.

The family of the quintuplets expressed gratitude to Hon. Fasua, describing his support during the difficult period as a source of hope following their loss. They noted that the consistent assistance helped ease the burden of care during the infants’ hospitalization.

Speaking after the discharge, Hon. Dr. Fasua expressed appreciation to God for the survival of the children and acknowledged the efforts of Governor Aiyedatiwa in strengthening healthcare response in the state. He also commended the management of the hospital, led by its Chief Medical Director, Prof. Olagbuji, for what he described as professionalism and dedication in handling the case. He extended condolences over the loss of the mother and reaffirmed continued support for the wellbeing of the children.

The successful discharge of the quintuplets has been described by stakeholders as a reflection of coordinated healthcare response and sustained humanitarian support within the state.
