BAUCHI GOVERNOR VISITS MAKINDE, CALLS FOR SECURITY REFORMS OVER OYO SCHOOL ABDUCTIONS

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, on Sunday paid a solidarity visit to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde at his private residence in Ibadan following the recent abduction of teachers and pupils in Yawota and Esiele communities in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The visit comes amid growing national concern over the continued captivity of schoolchildren and teachers kidnapped during attacks on schools in parts of Oyo State, with political leaders and citizens demanding stronger action to tackle insecurity across the country.

Governor Mohammed, who was accompanied by leaders of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), including the party’s National Chairman Yusuf Mamman Dantalle and Bauchi State governorship candidate Yakubu Adamu, expressed sympathy with the government and people of Oyo State over the disturbing incident.

Speaking with journalists after a closed-door meeting with Governor Makinde, Mohammed said the purpose of the visit was to identify with Oyo State during what he described as a difficult period caused by the abduction of innocent schoolchildren and their teachers.

According to him, the visit was also meant to encourage Governor Makinde over the ongoing efforts being made to secure the safe release of the victims.

Mohammed stated that the continued rise in insecurity across parts of Nigeria highlights the urgent need for a review and strengthening of the country’s security architecture to improve the protection of citizens.

He noted that authorities across the country must continue working toward lasting solutions to the growing security challenges affecting communities and educational institutions.

The Bauchi governor commended Makinde for the steps already taken in response to the incident and expressed confidence that the abducted pupils and teachers would eventually regain their freedom.

He said he was representing both the government and people of Bauchi State in expressing solidarity with Oyo State and encouraging all efforts aimed at securing the release of the victims.

The incident has continued to attract nationwide attention as security agencies intensify rescue operations in the affected communities.

The abduction has also reignited conversations around school safety, protection of vulnerable communities, and the need for stronger collaboration between state and federal authorities in addressing insecurity.

Concerned citizens, civil society groups, and political leaders have continued calling for urgent reforms to improve national security and prevent further attacks on schools and rural communities across the country.
