BRAZIL BOOSTED AS NEYMAR SHOWS POSITIVE RECOVERY AHEAD OF WORLD CUP OPENER

Ancelotti Optimistic as Star Forward Continues Rehabilitation from Calf Injury

Brazil have received encouraging news ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with star forward Neymar reportedly making steady progress in his recovery from a calf injury that has threatened his participation in the opening stages of the tournament.

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) confirmed on Monday that the 34-year-old attacker is responding positively to treatment following a recent medical assessment.

According to the federation, an MRI scan conducted on Neymar showed significant improvement, raising hopes that the forward could be available for selection as Brazil begin their World Cup campaign in the United States.

In a statement, the CBF said Neymar is "recovering well" and will continue to follow the rehabilitation and fitness programme designed by the national team's medical staff.

The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star sustained the injury late last month and has since been working to regain full fitness ahead of the tournament.

Brazil are scheduled to open their World Cup campaign against Morocco in New Jersey on Saturday, with uncertainty remaining over whether Neymar will be fit enough to feature in the match.

Ancelotti Confident Over Neymar's Return

Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti recently expressed confidence that Neymar would be available either for the team's opening match or their second group-stage fixture.

The veteran manager noted that there is no intention to rush the experienced forward back into action before he is fully ready.

Ancelotti's comments have provided reassurance to Brazilian supporters, who view Neymar as one of the team's most influential players despite his recent injury struggles.

Veteran Star Eyes Another World Cup Appearance

Neymar remains Brazil's all-time leading goalscorer and has played a central role in the country's previous World Cup campaigns.

However, his inclusion in the current squad attracted attention due to a series of injuries that have limited his appearances for the national team in recent years.

The Santos forward has not featured regularly for Brazil since 2023, making his race against time to recover for the World Cup a major talking point ahead of the tournament.

Despite the challenges, medical updates from the Brazilian camp suggest that the player's recovery is progressing in the right direction.

Brazil will be hoping Neymar can return to full fitness quickly as the five-time world champions seek another successful run on football's biggest stage.
