60 WIDOWS BENEFIT AS YAN, AIKU EVER BRIGHT FOUNDATION EXPAND EMPOWERMENT DRIVE IN ONDO NORTH


The Aiku Ever Bright International Foundation, in collaboration with the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Ondo State Chapter, has empowered 60 widows across the Ondo North Senatorial District through a livelihood support programme aimed at improving economic opportunities for vulnerable women.

The beneficiaries were drawn from the six local government areas that make up the senatorial district, including Owo, Ose, Akoko South-East, Akoko South-West, Akoko North-West, and Akoko North-East.

As part of the initiative, the widows received various income-generating equipment such as grinding machines, popcorn-making machines, and baking ovens. The support is intended to help the beneficiaries establish or expand small businesses, enhance their financial independence, and improve their ability to provide for their families.

Speaking on the impact of the programme, beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the intervention, describing it as a timely opportunity to strengthen their livelihoods and create sustainable sources of income.

The empowerment programme was sponsored by Prince Bright Adelegan, Patron of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Ondo State Chapter, through the Aiku Ever Bright International Foundation.

Organisers said the initiative reflects the foundation’s commitment to community development, poverty reduction, and support for vulnerable groups within society. They noted that empowering widows with practical tools for economic self-sufficiency can contribute positively to household welfare and local economic growth.

The Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Ondo State Chapter, commended Prince Adelegan and the foundation for the intervention, describing the programme as a significant contribution to social welfare and grassroots development in the state.

The organisation also expressed hope that similar initiatives would continue to provide opportunities for individuals facing economic challenges, particularly women and other vulnerable members of society.

The empowerment exercise forms part of ongoing efforts by the foundation to support community-based development programmes and improve the living conditions of underserved populations across Ondo State.
