MIDNIGHT TERROR IN ONDO COMMUNITY AS GUNMEN ABDUCT 9-YEAR-OLD BOY, DESTROY HOMES
Residents of Igbosi Community in Idogun, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, were thrown into panic in the early hours of Friday after armed men reportedly invaded the area, destroyed buildings, and abducted a 9-year-old boy.
Sources within the community said the assailants, whose identities remain unknown, stormed the area under the cover of darkness, causing fear among residents and forcing many families to flee their homes in search of safety.
During the attack, two buildings were reportedly damaged, while the abductors allegedly took away a 9-year-old boy identified as Oluwatobi, the son of a local pastor.
Residents who spoke about the incident described the night as traumatic, saying the sound of gunfire and the activities of the attackers created widespread panic across the community.
Security efforts were immediately activated following the incident. Community vigilantes and operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps) reportedly launched a search operation and moved into nearby forests in an effort to track down the kidnappers and rescue the victim.
As of the time of filing this report, there was no official statement from the Ondo State Police Command regarding the attack, while efforts to secure the release of the kidnapped child were said to be ongoing.
The latest incident has renewed concerns over security in some rural communities across the state, with residents calling for intensified surveillance and stronger security presence to prevent further attacks.
Authorities are expected to provide more details as investigations continue.
