ONDO GOVERNMENT BEGINS VERIFICATION FOR AFFECTED PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHER RECRUITMENT APPLICANTS

The Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (ODSUBEB) has announced the commencement of a verification and interview exercise for applicants affected by irregularities recorded during the state’s previous primary school teachers’ recruitment exercise.

The exercise is part of efforts by the Ondo State Government to address concerns raised by applicants who were negatively affected during the recruitment process and to ensure that qualified candidates are given another opportunity for consideration.

According to an official statement released by ODSUBEB, the decision follows the approval granted by Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, during the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration, directing that genuinely qualified applicants affected by the recruitment irregularities should be considered for absorption into the state’s public primary school teaching service.

The government said the move reflects Governor Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to fairness, justice, and equal opportunity for citizens whose employment prospects were affected during the previous exercise.

Following the governor’s directive, ODSUBEB constituted a verification committee tasked with reviewing the credentials and recruitment records of all affected applicants.

The committee is expected to identify candidates who genuinely participated in the original recruitment exercise, met all required qualifications, and remain eligible for consideration under the government’s intervention plan.

The committee, chaired by Comrade Bola Taiwo, held its inaugural meeting on Friday, June 26, 2026, where members finalized operational guidelines and approved a statewide verification and interview schedule covering the three senatorial districts in Ondo State.

According to the announced schedule, applicants from Ondo Central Senatorial District will undergo verification from Tuesday, June 30 to Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at St. James Caring Heart Mega Primary School, Irowo, Akure, beginning at 8:00 a.m.

Applicants from Ondo South Senatorial District are scheduled for Monday, July 6 to Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at St. Mark Caring Heart Mega Primary School, Ore, while applicants from Ondo North Senatorial District will participate from Wednesday, July 8 to Thursday, July 9, 2026, at St. Gregory Caring Heart Mega Primary School, Ikare-Akoko.

The Board directed all affected applicants to appear physically at their designated venues with both original copies and photocopies of required documents.

Documents required include academic certificates, birth certificate or declaration of age, printed copy of recruitment application form, appointment letter, and posting letter to school.

ODSUBEB emphasized that participation in the verification and interview exercise is compulsory for all affected applicants.

According to the Board, only candidates whose credentials and recruitment records are successfully verified and authenticated will be recommended for further processing in line with the approval granted by the Ondo State Government.

The Board assured applicants that the exercise will be conducted transparently and strictly based on merit and due process.

Officials also warned that failure to attend the exercise or inability to provide required documents may affect eligibility for final consideration.

ODSUBEB expressed appreciation to applicants for their patience throughout the process while reaffirming its commitment to strengthening basic education in Ondo State through the recruitment of qualified and competent teachers.

The Board also commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for approving the intervention, describing the move as a significant step toward restoring confidence and providing renewed opportunities for deserving applicants.
