DIG FAYOADE BEGINS SOUTH-WEST DUTY TOUR IN OYO, URGES POLICE OFFICERS TO EMBRACE PROFESSIONALISM


The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), DIG Fayoade Mustapha Adegoke, has commenced an official duty tour of the South-West geopolitical zone with a visit to Oyo State, where he charged police officers to uphold professionalism, strengthen public trust, and deepen collaboration with communities.

The visit, which took place on Monday at the Oyo State Police Command Headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, brought together senior police officers, key stakeholders, and personnel of the command for strategic discussions focused on improving policing effectiveness and enhancing public safety.

Speaking during the engagement, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbemiga, described the visit as significant in reinforcing the existing partnership between the Nigeria Police Force and members of the public.

According to him, the visit provides an important opportunity to assess the current security framework within the state while reaffirming the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

The commissioner assured residents that the Oyo State Police Command remains committed to proactive policing strategies and stronger community engagement aimed at sustaining peace and security across the state.

In his address, DIG Fayoade expressed satisfaction with the level of discipline, operational commitment, and security efforts demonstrated by officers of the command.

He encouraged residents to continue supporting the police by providing useful and credible information that could assist in preventing and detecting criminal activities.

Addressing officers and personnel of the command, the senior police officer emphasized the need for professionalism in carrying out constitutional duties, strict adherence to the rule of law, and the importance of building and maintaining public confidence in law enforcement operations.

He also warned officers against corruption and all forms of unprofessional conduct capable of damaging the image of the police force.

DIG Fayoade explained that the tour was carried out on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen policing operations across the South-West region.

He further urged the command to intensify operational activities by strategically deploying officers and security assets to areas identified as security concerns.

The police chief also reiterated the importance of intelligence gathering, calling on members of the public to continue providing timely and accurate information to security agencies.

The Oyo State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to preserving law and order while sustaining strong partnerships with stakeholders in ensuring the safety of residents across the state.
