Hon. Nelson Akinsuroju, the lawmaker representing Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Constituency in the Ondo State House of Assembly, has been nominated for the maiden edition of the prestigious Akoni Oodua Bibiire Leadership Award 2026.

The nomination has been widely celebrated across Ile-Oluji and Okeigbo communities, with many residents describing it as a recognition of the lawmaker’s commitment to quality representation, grassroots development, and community service.

The award, organised by Akoni Oodua, is inspired by the Yoruba concept of “Bibiire” — a term used to describe an individual of noble upbringing, good character, respect for elders and constituted authority, and dedication to preserving family and societal values through exemplary conduct.

According to the organisers, the award is designed to honour distinguished individuals who have demonstrated selfless leadership, integrity, compassion, and impactful service to society.

Hon. Akinsuroju’s nomination was attributed to his contributions to legislative representation and his consistent engagement with constituents on issues relating to education, youth empowerment, infrastructure development, and social welfare.

The organisers stated that award recipients were carefully selected based on their records of service and adherence to the Omoluabi ethos, a core Yoruba value system centred on integrity, honour, discipline, and responsibility.

As part of the event, a special award citation highlighting the achievements and leadership qualities of the nominees is expected to be presented and published in the Akoni Oodua Diary.

Political stakeholders and community leaders within the constituency have continued to commend Hon. Akinsuroju’s leadership style, describing him as a representative who remains accessible to the people and committed to addressing their concerns.
