“I’M READY TO DIE” — MAKINDE BREAKS SILENCE ON ABDUCTED OYO SCHOOLCHILDREN


Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to secure the release of schoolchildren and teachers recently abducted in Oriire Local Government Area, declaring that he is prepared to make any sacrifice necessary to ensure their safe return.

The governor made the strong declaration on Tuesday while addressing demonstrators in Ibadan during a protest demanding urgent government action over the abduction incident. The demonstration, tagged Bring Back Our Children, was led by popular social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan.

Speaking before the protesters and concerned residents, Makinde said the emotional pain being experienced by families of the kidnapped victims is deeply understood by the state government, assuring the public that every available effort is being deployed to rescue the victims.

According to the governor, protecting the lives and future of the abducted children remains a major priority, stressing that his administration is fully committed to ensuring their return.

He stated that if sacrificing his own life would guarantee the rescue of the children, he would be willing to do so.

Makinde further said he remains personally invested in the situation, emphasizing that the state government is working closely with security agencies to intensify rescue operations and bring the victims home safely.

Addressing concerns raised by residents over fears that the incident could become prolonged like the widely known Chibok school abduction of 2014, the governor assured citizens that authorities in Oyo State are handling the matter with urgency.

He maintained that the state would not allow the kidnapped children to face a similar prolonged ordeal, expressing confidence that ongoing security efforts would yield positive results.

The governor also appealed to residents to remain calm while supporting security agencies and government authorities as rescue operations continue.

The protest attracted several concerned citizens who demanded immediate action from relevant authorities, calling for stronger intervention to secure the release of the abducted pupils and teachers.

Makinde assured families and residents that the government would continue pursuing every available option until all victims are safely reunited with their loved ones.
