The Executive Chairman of Irele Local Government, Hon. (Deacon) Olajide Akinfe, has condemned the abduction of Mrs. Falona, who was reportedly kidnapped at her residence late on Sunday night by unknown gunmen following a domestic disturbance involving her husband.
According to a statement from the council, the chairman was immediately alerted after the incident and has since visited the scene to assess the situation. He also engaged relevant security agencies, traditional rulers, and key community stakeholders to coordinate an urgent response aimed at securing the victim’s release.
As part of a joint security effort, the council noted that neighbouring Ese-Odo Local Government has also been involved in the operation. The Executive Chairman of Ese-Odo, High Chief Ebis Molos, reportedly joined forces with his Irele counterpart in ongoing rescue and security coordination.
Authorities said efforts are currently ongoing to track the abductors and ensure the safe return of the victim, while also working to bring those responsible to justice.
Hon. Akinfe expressed sympathy with the Falona family and urged residents to remain calm, assuring that security agencies are working around the clock to resolve the situation. He also called on members of the public to provide credible information that could assist investigations.
He further urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movement to the nearest security formation, reiterating that his administration would not tolerate criminal activity or threats to lives and property within the local government area.
