ADELEKE STRENGTHENS SCHOOL SECURITY, MOBILISES HUNTERS AND VIGILANTES ACROSS OSUN

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has announced a series of enhanced security measures aimed at protecting schools, communities, and residents across the state amid rising security concerns in parts of the South-West.

The governor disclosed that his administration has activated all levels of the state's security architecture to improve surveillance, strengthen intelligence gathering, and prevent criminal activities.

According to Adeleke, the government has intensified consultations with conventional security agencies and community-based security outfits to ensure a coordinated response to emerging security challenges.

As part of the initiative, local hunters, the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Agbekoya groups, the Western Nigeria Security Network (Amotekun Corps), and other grassroots security organisations have been mobilised to support security operations across the state.

The governor stated that an expanded meeting of the Osun State Security Council involving service commanders and key security stakeholders had been convened to harmonise security strategies and improve collaboration among agencies.

Adeleke emphasized that the safety of students, teachers, and residents remains a top priority for his administration. He noted that proactive security operations, intelligence sharing, and community participation would continue to play a critical role in maintaining peace and security.

In addition, the governor revealed that he had engaged the Osun State Traditional Council through the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, to strengthen grassroots security efforts. Plans are underway for a broader meeting with traditional rulers across the state.

He explained that traditional rulers possess valuable local knowledge and maintain close ties with their communities, making them important partners in security management and information gathering.

Adeleke also called on residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious movements and activities promptly.

The governor assured citizens that the state government would continue to take proactive steps to safeguard lives and property while ensuring that schools remain safe environments for learning.

The renewed security measures come amid growing concerns over incidents of banditry and attacks on educational institutions in parts of the South-West, including the recent abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
