OYO GOVERNMENT DEMOLISHES BUILDING LINKED TO ADELABU FAMILY KIDNAPPING CASE


IBADAN, OYO STATE – The Oyo State Government has demolished a three-bedroom bungalow allegedly used as a hideout by suspected kidnappers involved in the abduction of the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu, and her children.

The demolition exercise was carried out on Monday by officials of the Oyo State Ministry of Public Works and Transportation, alongside operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, as part of ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities across the state.

The property, located in the Lako Community along the Aiyegun-Anaye Road area of Ibadan, was identified during investigations into the kidnapping incident that drew widespread public attention.

According to available information, the victims—Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul—were abducted on June 3, 2026, at the Elewura area of Challenge in Ibadan.

State authorities said the demolition forms part of broader measures aimed at disrupting criminal operations and sending a strong message against the use of residential properties for unlawful activities.

The government stated that the action reflects its determination to strengthen security across Oyo State and support law enforcement agencies in tackling kidnapping, banditry, and related crimes.

Security operatives were present during the exercise to maintain order and secure the area while the structure was brought down.

The kidnapping case involving members of the Adelabu family generated significant concern among residents, prompting intensified investigations by security agencies.

Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding ongoing investigations, but officials reaffirmed the government's commitment to ensuring that individuals or groups involved in criminal activities are brought to justice.

The Oyo State Government has repeatedly emphasized its resolve to enhance public safety through collaboration with security agencies and the enforcement of laws designed to deter criminal activities throughout the state.
