ODIGBO LG CHAIRMAN DISMISSES SCHOOL CLOSURE REPORTS, ASSURES RESIDENTS OF SAFETY

The Chairman of Odigbo Local Government, Otunba (Hon.) Taiwo Adegoroye, has refuted reports claiming that schools within the local government area have been ordered to shut down, describing the information as false and misleading.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the council chairman clarified that no directive for the closure of either public or private schools in Odigbo Local Government was issued by his administration.

According to the statement, the reports circulating on some online platforms and publications were based on unverified information and rumours that did not originate from the office of the chairman.

Hon. Adegoroye urged residents, parents, teachers, and students to disregard the reports and continue with their lawful daily activities without fear.

He also commended members of the public and stakeholders who sought clarification before reacting to the reports, noting that responsible verification helps to prevent unnecessary panic within communities.

As part of efforts to maintain peace and reassure residents, the chairman disclosed that he personally contacted security heads within the local government area to address the situation and strengthen public confidence.

The council boss further stated that Odigbo Local Government remains peaceful and secure, adding that the area continues to enjoy one of the most stable security situations in Ondo State.

He reaffirmed that the safety of residents remains a priority for both the local government administration and the Ondo State Government under Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Hon. Adegoroye also appreciated Governor Aiyedatiwa for ongoing efforts aimed at improving security across the state, especially in local communities.

The chairman assured residents that his administration would continue to work closely with security agencies and relevant stakeholders to sustain peace, protect lives and property, and promote the welfare of citizens.

The statement was signed by Comrade Olatunji Babatunde, Special Assistant to the Executive Chairman of Odigbo Local Government on New Media, and dated June 2, 2026.
