SON ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY BEATING FATHER TO DEATH IN ONDO


A 38-year-old man, identified as Nsikak Kingsley, has been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command over the alleged killing of his 65-year-old father, Adone Peter, following a domestic dispute in Oda Community, Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State.

According to police authorities, the incident occurred on May 28, 2026, after an altercation reportedly broke out between the father and son. The disagreement allegedly escalated into a violent confrontation during which the suspect was accused of inflicting serious injuries on his father.

Police sources disclosed that the victim sustained severe injuries, particularly to the head, and was rushed to a medical facility for treatment. Despite efforts by healthcare personnel to save his life, he was later confirmed dead by attending doctors.

The case was reported to the police by Daniel Moses, another son of the deceased and brother to the suspect. Following the report, detectives commenced an investigation and subsequently apprehended the suspect.

The Ondo State Police Command confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody while investigations continue. The remains of the deceased have been deposited in a mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

The matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

Speaking on the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Felix Ohagwu, described the alleged killing as unfortunate and condemnable. He stressed that disagreements, whether within families or communities, should never be allowed to escalate into violence.

The Commissioner assured residents that the command would conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that anyone found culpable faces the appropriate legal consequences.

He also urged members of the public to embrace peaceful conflict-resolution methods and promptly report incidents of violence or suspicious activities to security agencies.

The incident has generated widespread concern among residents of Oda Community, many of whom described the development as a tragic case of domestic violence that has left a family grieving and the community in shock.

Police authorities stated that the suspect would be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
