TROOPS NAB FIVE SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS IN EDO, RECOVER MOBILE PHONES DURING OPERATION


Troops of Operation MESA have arrested five suspected kidnappers in Emaudo community, Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, in a continued effort to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes in the region.

According to security sources, the suspects were apprehended at about 9:00 a.m. on June 7 during a security operation conducted by troops of the 322 Artillery Regiment.

Preliminary investigations reportedly suggest that the suspects may have been linked to kidnapping activities in Emaudo and surrounding communities over the past two years. However, authorities have not yet announced formal charges, and investigations remain ongoing.

During the operation, troops recovered eight mobile phones believed to be relevant to the investigation.

Military sources confirmed that the suspects are currently being held in custody and will undergo further interrogation before being transferred to the appropriate law enforcement authorities for possible prosecution.

The arrest is part of ongoing security operations aimed at disrupting criminal networks and enhancing public safety across Edo State and neighbouring areas.

Security agencies have continued to intensify intelligence-driven operations targeting kidnapping syndicates and other criminal groups, amid efforts to address security challenges affecting parts of the country.

Residents have also been encouraged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could assist ongoing investigations and crime prevention efforts.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to sustaining operations against criminal elements and ensuring the safety of lives and property across affected communities.
