ODIGBO COUNCIL CHAIRMAN ADEGOROYE HONOURED WITH PRESTIGIOUS AKONI OODUA AWARD


The Executive Chairman of Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, Otunba (Hon.) Taiwo Adegoroye, has been honoured with the prestigious Akoni Oodua Award in recognition of his contributions to good governance, transparency, and community development.

The award was presented on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Ile N’la, the Palace of the Ooni of Ife in Ile-Ife, Osun State. Hon. Adegoroye was among ten distinguished individuals recognised for their contributions to society and the advancement of Yoruba heritage.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, represented by Oba Agboluaje Adebowale of Ife, commended the Odigbo council chairman for his dedication to grassroots development and public service.

According to the monarch’s representative, the Akoni Oodua Award is a prestigious cultural and leadership honour established to celebrate outstanding sons and daughters of Yoruba extraction who have made significant contributions to community development, societal progress, and the preservation of Yoruba cultural values.

He urged the award recipients to remain committed to promoting unity, growth, and development while upholding the Omoluabi principles that define Yoruba culture and identity.

Responding to the recognition, Hon. Adegoroye expressed gratitude to the Ooni of Ife and the organisers for the honour, describing the award as a motivation to continue serving the people with dedication and integrity.

He reaffirmed his commitment to advancing good governance, preserving cultural values, and implementing people-oriented projects aimed at improving the welfare and living standards of residents of Odigbo Local Government.

The council chairman also acknowledged the support of Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, praising the governor’s commitment to the development and progress of the state.

Hon. Adegoroye attended the event alongside several top officials and stakeholders from Odigbo Local Government, including the Vice Chairman, Hon. Kamli Jimoh; Leader of the Legislative Council, Rt. Hon. Ademeso Adewole; Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Kehinde Akinriboya; Director of Finance and Supplies, Mr. Fadoju Kehinde; Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Mr. Bayo Akinduro; APC leaders and members, councillors, supervisors, political associates, and other dignitaries.

The recognition adds to the growing list of honours celebrating public officials and community leaders for their contributions to governance, cultural preservation, and grassroots development across the South-West region.
