ONDO, POLICE STRENGTHEN SECURITY ALLIANCE AS DIG MUSTAPHA COMMENDS ONGOING COOPERATION


The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the South-West, Fayoade Mustapha, has commended the Ondo State Government for its continued support for security agencies and its sustained commitment to the protection of lives and property across the state.

Mustapha gave the commendation on Wednesday during a courtesy visit to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in Akure, where he noted that collaboration between the state government and security agencies has continued to produce positive results in maintaining peace and improving operational effectiveness.

He praised the governor for consistently responding to security challenges and for providing logistical and financial support that has enhanced the capacity of security operatives in the state.

“I want to sincerely appreciate the efforts of the Governor for always rising to the occasion whenever security challenges arise. I also want to thank him for providing logistic support, financial assistance and other resources that enable us to carry out our assignments efficiently,” Mustapha said.

The DIG explained that his visit to Ondo State was part of a nationwide directive from the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force, aimed at strengthening regional engagement, assessing security operations, and reinforcing cooperation between police formations and state governments.

He added that the engagement also provided an opportunity to sensitize officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force on emerging security challenges while reaffirming the commitment of the police leadership to improving personnel welfare and operational efficiency.

Mustapha further noted that the South-West region has recently witnessed evolving security concerns, stressing the need for continuous strategy review, intelligence-driven policing, and stronger collaboration with stakeholders to address emerging threats.

He emphasized that support from state governments remains critical to effective policing, while commending governors across the region for their contributions to maintaining relative peace and stability.

In his response, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, welcomed the initiative and commended the Nigeria Police Force for its proactive approach to strengthening security coordination across the country.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies through logistics, operational assistance, and sustained partnerships aimed at ensuring the safety of residents in Ondo State.

He also urged security agencies to leverage modern technology and enhance intelligence gathering to improve crime prevention, detection, and rapid response.

The state government recently supported security operations with the distribution of operational vehicles to various agencies as part of efforts to strengthen security infrastructure and improve coordination among stakeholders.

The meeting was attended by senior government officials and top security commanders, including the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Prince Segun Omojuwa; Deputy Chief of Staff, Dr. Kola Falohun; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, Chief Gbenga Atiba; the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 17, Akure; the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Felix Ohagwu; and other senior officials.
