ONLY FOUR CANDIDATES MAKE FINAL INEC LIST AS MAJOR PARTIES MISS OUT - INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that only four political parties and their candidates have been cleared to participate in the Ondo South Senatorial District bye-election scheduled for June 20, 2026.

The disclosure was made on Wednesday by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ondo State, Dr. Mutiu Olaleke-Agboke, during a stakeholders' meeting held in Okitipupa.

According to the REC, the candidates approved for the election are:

Prof. Dayo Faduyile – All Progressives Congress (APC)

Adeolu Akinwunmi – Allied People's Movement (APM)

Adesanya Olaoluwa – Action People's Party (APP)

Clement Funso-Nejo – Boot Party (BP)

The announcement confirms that only four political parties successfully completed the requirements necessary to participate in the forthcoming senatorial bye-election.

The Ondo South Senatorial seat became vacant following developments that necessitated a fresh election, prompting INEC to schedule the poll for June 20.

More details are expected as the electoral commission continues preparations for the election.
