OSOGBO FIRE SPARKS EXPLOSION FEAR NEAR FILLING STATION



A fire outbreak in the Old Garage area of Osogbo, Osun State, caused panic on Sunday after it engulfed a store filled with plastic containers close to a filling station.


The blaze, which reportedly started around 2pm, sent thick smoke into the air and raised fears among residents that it could spread to nearby buildings and potentially trigger an explosion due to the proximity of fuel facilities.


Firefighters battled for hours to contain the inferno, deploying multiple fire trucks to prevent the flames from spreading further into the densely populated area.


Eyewitnesses said the situation created widespread tension as traders and residents rushed to safety while emergency responders worked to control the fire.


Officials of the Osun State Fire Service confirmed that efforts were still ongoing at the scene, adding that the cause of the fire had not yet been determined.


Investigations are expected to commence once the fire is fully extinguished.
