RESIDENTS RAISE CONCERNS OVER ALLEGED PVC REGISTRATION DELAYS AT INEC OFFICE IN ILE-OLUJI 


Concerns are growing in Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State following complaints from residents over alleged repeated delays and difficulties in obtaining Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) at the local office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Several residents have reportedly expressed frustration over what they describe as persistent postponements by officials handling PVC registration and collection processes in the area, raising concerns about citizens’ access to their constitutional right to participate in elections.

According to accounts shared by affected residents, individuals seeking to register for their PVCs have allegedly been told repeatedly to return on different days, with reasons ranging from network-related issues to operational delays.

One resident claimed to have visited the INEC office multiple times since October last year without successfully completing the registration process. The individual alleged that each visit ended with officials asking applicants to return another day without a clear resolution.

The resident also recounted an incident that occurred during a recent visit to the office, where two other young women reportedly expressed similar frustrations after experiencing repeated unsuccessful attempts to complete their PVC registration.

According to the account, the women said they were considering abandoning further attempts after facing repeated delays.

The growing complaints have sparked concerns among some community members, with calls for greater accountability and improved service delivery to ensure eligible citizens are not discouraged from participating in the electoral process.

Observers note that voter registration and PVC issuance remain critical components of Nigeria’s democratic system, as citizens rely on the process to exercise their voting rights during elections.

Residents are now urging relevant authorities to investigate the situation and address any administrative challenges that may be affecting operations at the local office.

As of the time of reporting, there has been no official response from INEC regarding the allegations raised by residents in Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area.

The development has triggered wider conversations about the need for efficient electoral registration systems and the importance of ensuring all eligible Nigerians have equal access to voter registration opportunities ahead of future elections.
