Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has written another remarkable chapter in football history after becoming the first player ever to score in six different FIFA World Cup tournaments.

The historic achievement came on Tuesday during Portugal’s World Cup clash against Uzbekistan in Houston, United States, where the veteran forward found the back of the net just six minutes into the match.

The 41-year-old captain reacted quickly inside the penalty area to convert from close range, ending recent criticism over his struggles in front of goal and setting a new record in the history of the global tournament.

Ronaldo’s latest milestone further highlights his extraordinary longevity at the highest level of football, having scored his first-ever World Cup goal two decades earlier during Portugal’s 2006 World Cup campaign against Iran.

The Portugal captain entered the Uzbekistan match under growing pressure after failing to make a significant attacking impact during his country’s opening 1-1 draw against the Democratic Republic of Congo, a result that disappointed many supporters as Portugal began its campaign for a first-ever World Cup title.

Before Tuesday’s game, Ronaldo had endured a difficult run in major international tournaments, recording no goals and just one assist in his previous ten appearances on the big stage.

His recent struggles had sparked comparisons with other leading global stars including Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland, and Harry Kane, all of whom have maintained strong performances for their respective national teams.

Despite recent criticism, Ronaldo once again demonstrated why he remains one of football’s most celebrated figures, delivering when it mattered and securing another historic record in his legendary career.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, Ronaldo made his international debut for Portugal in 2003 and has remained a central figure for the national team for more than two decades.

Although visibly frustrated after missing the early opportunity, Ronaldo quickly responded moments later with the historic goal that placed him alone in the World Cup record books.

The latest achievement adds yet another milestone to an already extraordinary career that continues to redefine longevity and consistency in modern football.
