SENATOR SHARAFADEEN ALLI DENIES LINK TO KIDNAPPING OF BAYO ADELABU’S SISTER


Senator Sharafadeen Alli, representing Oyo South Senatorial District, has dismissed allegations linking him to the recent abduction of Mrs. Olaide Adegoke, the younger sister of Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu.

In a statement issued on Sunday through his media office, the senator described reports circulating on social media as false, defamatory, politically motivated, and lacking any factual basis. The statement emphasized that Alli has no connection whatsoever to the kidnapping incident or any criminal activity.

Mrs. Adegoke and her 12-year-old twin sons were abducted by armed gunmen on June 3, 2026, in the Elewura area of Ibadan while she was taking the children to school. The victims were rescued unharmed on Saturday, June 6, during a coordinated operation by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force's Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team.

According to the senator's media office, allegations attempting to connect him to the crime were based on unverified claims reportedly made by a suspect under investigation. The statement noted that no security agency has established any link between Senator Alli and the kidnapping.

The lawmaker condemned kidnapping and other violent crimes, reaffirming his support for efforts aimed at improving security and protecting lives and property across Oyo State. He also urged the public to disregard what he described as false narratives capable of creating unnecessary political tension and undermining ongoing investigations.

The statement further called on security agencies to investigate the source of the allegations and hold accountable those responsible for spreading misinformation.

Meanwhile, police authorities confirmed that two suspected kidnappers were neutralized during the rescue operation, while firearms were recovered from the suspects.
