TRUMP TO ATTEND 2026 WORLD CUP FINAL, TO PRESENT TROPHY WITH FIFA PRESIDENT INFANTINO


United States President, Donald Trump, is expected to attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup final scheduled to hold in New Jersey on July 19, where he will jointly present the tournament trophy to the winning team alongside FIFA President, Gianni Infantino.

Infantino disclosed this on Tuesday during an interview with Fox & Friends, stating that both leaders would be present at the final ceremony to hand over the trophy to the champions.

“We will be together with the president enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course, together,” Infantino said.

The FIFA president has maintained a close relationship with Trump in recent years, including awarding him a newly created FIFA Peace Prize during the World Cup draw in Washington last year.

The arrangement for a joint trophy presentation comes after past controversy surrounding ceremonial protocols at major FIFA events, including the 2025 Club World Cup final in New Jersey, where Trump had also taken part in the trophy presentation following Chelsea’s victory over Paris Saint-Germain.

At that event, Trump handed the trophy to Chelsea captain Reece James and remained on stage during the team’s celebration, a moment that drew widespread attention and discussion.

The 2026 World Cup final will now feature both Trump and Infantino on the podium as global attention turns to one of football’s most-watched sporting events.

The United States is co-hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside Canada and Mexico, with preparations ongoing across multiple host cities ahead of the tournament.
