West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan has been accused by multiple women of alleged sexual misconduct and abuse of power spanning several decades.

The allegations involve seven women who say the incidents occurred between the 1980s and 1990s during Sullivan’s time operating in the newspaper and glamour modelling industry, where he was a prominent business figure.

According to accounts attributed to the women, they were invited to meetings that they believed were related to modelling opportunities but later experienced inappropriate sexual advances or pressure in exchange for potential career advancement.

Some of the women alleged that promises of modelling work, publicity, or professional opportunities were linked to expectations of sexual favours. Others described meetings in private settings where they said they felt pressured, intimidated, or unable to leave.

Sullivan, 77, has strongly denied all allegations, describing them as false and “factually incorrect,” and has stated that he will challenge the claims. His representatives have also disputed parts of the accounts given by some of the women.

The businessman stepped down from his position as joint chairman of West Ham United shortly before the allegations became public, stating that he intended to focus on responding to long-standing claims concerning his personal conduct.

Some of the women involved said they only came forward after many years due to fear, stigma, and concerns about being disbelieved. Others said they had previously confided in people close to them or reported aspects of their experiences to authorities.

Law enforcement agencies have previously reviewed complaints connected to the allegations but did not proceed to criminal charges, citing insufficient evidence. They have reiterated that all such reports are treated seriously and assessed based on available information.

The case has also raised wider questions about accountability and oversight standards within football governance structures regarding the suitability of individuals in leadership positions.

West Ham United has not issued a detailed public response beyond confirming Sullivan’s resignation from his leadership role.

As of the time of publication, no criminal proceedings have been initiated in relation to the allegations. Sullivan continues to deny any wrongdoing.

The matter remains under public attention as further reactions are expected from relevant institutions and stakeholders.
