EKITI PDP BACKS MAKINDE FOR PRESIDENT, ANNOUNCES ALLIANCE WITH APM
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has announced a political alliance with the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and endorsed Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, as its preferred presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general election.
The announcement was made by the Chairman of the PDP in Ekiti State, Rt. Hon. Tunji Odeyemi, who said the decision followed consultations among the party's leadership and key stakeholders in the state.
According to Odeyemi, the alliance is aimed at strengthening the party's political strategy and building a broader coalition capable of achieving success in future elections. He stated that stakeholders unanimously resolved to work with the APM while adopting Governor Makinde as their preferred choice for Nigeria's presidency.
Governor Makinde, who is serving his second term as Governor of Oyo State, has continued to attract national attention over his leadership and is regarded by many supporters within the PDP as one of the party's prominent figures ahead of the 2027 presidential race.
The endorsement by the Ekiti PDP reflects growing political discussions within the opposition party as preparations for the next general election gather momentum.
However, the endorsement represents the position of the Ekiti State chapter of the PDP and does not constitute the official presidential nomination of the party, which will be determined through the PDP's constitutionally recognized nomination process.
