OYC DIRECTOR SENDS STRONG PEACE MESSAGE TO HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY CANDIDATES IN ILE-OLUJI/OKEIGBO
As political activities gather pace ahead of the 2027 General Elections, the Global Director of Projects and Logistics of the Oijefon Youth Council (OYC), Comrade Charles Fagbamiye, popularly known as Acurah Jah, has appealed to all House of Assembly candidates across political parties in the Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo State Constituency to uphold peace and promote issue-based campaigns throughout the electoral process.
The appeal follows the emergence and official unveiling of candidates by various political parties ahead of the February 2027 House of Assembly election.
In a statement, Comrade Fagbamiye emphasized that while contesting for political office is a legitimate democratic right, political ambitions should never override the collective interest of the people or threaten the peaceful coexistence of communities.
He noted that elections are temporary, but the unity, security, and development of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo remain enduring priorities that should be protected by every stakeholder.
According to him, all candidates, their supporters, political leaders, and party faithful should demonstrate maturity, tolerance, and mutual respect before, during, and after the elections, adding that peaceful political engagement is essential for strengthening democracy and sustaining development within the constituency.
Fagbamiye also encouraged political parties to concentrate on presenting their programmes and policies to the electorate while avoiding inflammatory statements, hate speech, and actions capable of disrupting public peace.
He further called on young people across the constituency to reject violence and resist attempts by politicians or interest groups to use them as agents of unrest. Instead, he urged them to become ambassadors of peace, unity, and democratic values throughout the election period.
He expressed optimism that with collective commitment from political stakeholders and residents, the 2027 General Elections in the constituency would be conducted peacefully and credibly.
