AKINGBASO FLAGS OFF IFEDORE FEDERAL FIRE SERVICE STATION, RALLIES SUPPORT FOR TINUBU'S 2027 RE-ELECTION DURING IDANRE THANK-YOU TOUR
Hon. Festus Olarewaju Akingbaso, the member representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, on Saturday, July 4, 2026, embarked on a thank-you tour across Idanre Kingdom following his emergence and confirmation as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election.
The event, which attracted party leaders, stakeholders, supporters, youth groups, community leaders and residents, served as an opportunity for the lawmaker to express gratitude for the overwhelming support he has received since securing the APC ticket.
Addressing the gathering, Akingbaso thanked leaders of the APC at both the state and local levels, traditional and community leaders, as well as party members from all districts across Idanre Local Government for standing firmly behind him throughout the process.
He specially acknowledged the contributions of APC State Executive members who served as key points of contact during the exercise, including Hon. Vincent Akinjide, Hon. Aribigbola, former state executives, and other dignitaries seated at the high table, describing their support as invaluable.
The federal lawmaker also extended heartfelt appreciation to everyone who worked tirelessly for his emergence as the APC candidate. He thanked party leaders, coordinators, political associates, volunteers, supporters and every individual who contributed in one way or another to securing what he described as a collective victory, noting that the success belonged to the entire constituency rather than to him alone.
Reflecting on the significance of the gathering, Akingbaso said the visit was primarily to appreciate the people for their confidence, love and unwavering support.
"I came to appreciate you for the love and support you have shown me. We are just starting. In two months' time, campaign will commence," Akingbaso said.
The lawmaker, who was first elected into the House of Representatives in 2023 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), recently emerged as the APC candidate as he seeks re-election under the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on the victory rally held in his honour, Akingbaso commended residents for maintaining peace and order throughout the celebration. He noted that the event was conducted without violence or any form of security breach.
According to him, no participant was found carrying illegal weapons or dangerous objects, a development he described as a testament to the peaceful nature of the people of Idanre.
He stressed that not everyone in Idanre is violent, saying the orderly conduct of the rally reflected the true character of the people as law-abiding and peace-loving citizens.
Akingbaso expressed appreciation to the Commissioner of Police and other security agencies for providing adequate security throughout the event, ensuring that the celebrations were peaceful from beginning to end.
He also thanked the youths of Idanre, both young men and women, for their maturity, discipline and peaceful participation, while commending security personnel for their professionalism before, during and after the rally.
Reassuring constituents of his continued commitment to quality representation, the lawmaker pledged not to depart from the style of leadership that has earned him public support.
"I will not change. I shall continue with good deeds for the people of my constituency," he assured.
Looking ahead, Akingbaso announced that the appreciation tour would continue on Tuesday in Ifedore Local Government Area, where it will hold in Igbara-Oke.
He disclosed that the visit would also witness the official flag-off of a Federal Fire Service Station recently approved by the Federal Government, a project he said was facilitated through his representation of Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency.
According to him, the project will strengthen emergency response services, improve public safety and further expand the presence of critical federal infrastructure within the constituency.
Akingbaso also called on party members and residents to remain united and committed to the success of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections. He urged constituents to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing confidence that the President deserves another term to consolidate ongoing reforms and developmental programmes across the country.
The lawmaker maintained that the continued support of the people would be crucial in ensuring victory for the APC at all levels, adding that the journey towards the 2027 elections had already begun with unity, gratitude and sustained grassroots engagement.
