OKITIPUPA LG EMPOWERS 300 ELDERLY RESIDENTS WITH ₦30 MILLION CASH SUPPORT IN EXPANDED WELFARE PROGRAMME


Okitipupa Local Government in Ondo State has continued its social welfare intervention programme with the disbursement of cash support to 300 elderly residents as part of efforts aimed at improving the wellbeing of vulnerable citizens across the council area.

The Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, Hon. Andrew Ogunsakin, supervised the latest phase of the programme on Thursday, where beneficiaries drawn from the 13 wards of the local government received cash grants of ₦100,000 each, amounting to a total disbursement of ₦30 million.

The initiative is part of the council’s ongoing social intervention programme first introduced in December and is designed to provide financial assistance to elderly residents, widows, and widowers facing economic challenges.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Ogunsakin reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritizing programmes that directly improve the lives of residents, particularly vulnerable members of society who require government support.

According to the council chairman, the welfare of elderly citizens remains an important responsibility, stressing that his administration will continue to sustain people-focused policies and social programmes targeted at improving living conditions across Okitipupa Local Government.

He also acknowledged the support of Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, commending the state government for creating an enabling environment that allows local governments to implement development initiatives and deliver social welfare programmes at the grassroots level.

Several beneficiaries who received the financial support expressed appreciation to the local government administration, describing the intervention as timely assistance that would help address immediate personal and household needs.

They praised the council leadership for what they described as genuine concern for the welfare of elderly residents and offered prayers for the continued success of the administration’s developmental efforts.

Officials present during the cash presentation included the Vice Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, Hon. Ogunyemi Orimisan; Secretary to the Local Government, Barrister Femi Oladokun; Leader of the Legislative Council, Rt. Hon. Dada Adeleke; Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs. Oriade Evelyn; Director of General Services and Administration, Mr. Daramola Emmanuel; Director of Finance, Mr. Adeniran Kelly, alongside councillors, council staff, and other members of the public.
