OYO GOVERNMENT DEMOLISHES OJOO SHANTIES AFTER 7-DAY ULTIMATUM EXPIRES


The Oyo State Government has commenced the demolition of illegal shanties in the Ojoo area of Ibadan following the expiration of a seven-day quit notice issued after a recent violent clash in the community.

The exercise, carried out by relevant government agencies, is part of efforts to restore order, improve public safety, and prevent the recurrence of criminal activities allegedly linked to the affected structures.

State officials said the demolition followed the expiration of the ultimatum earlier issued to occupants to vacate the area, adding that the action aligns with the government's commitment to maintaining law and order while ensuring a safer environment for residents.

The decision came after a clash in the Ojoo axis raised security concerns, prompting the government to take decisive measures aimed at addressing illegal settlements and enhancing public safety.

Authorities urged residents to comply with government directives and cooperate with security agencies, stressing that similar enforcement actions would continue in areas where illegal structures pose security or environmental risks.

The Oyo State Government reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property while promoting orderly urban development across the state.
