SUNDAY IGBOHO VOWS TO FLUSH BANDITS OUT OF KWARA FORESTS, LAUNCHES IRU EKUN SECURITY NETWORK

Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has declared that his newly launched Iru Ekun Security Network will work to reclaim forests in Kwara State from bandits and other criminal elements.

Speaking on Thursday during the inauguration of the security outfit in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, Igboho said the network was established to complement the efforts of the government and conventional security agencies in tackling kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes.

He announced that the outfit would commence security operations in Babanla and revisit Eruku, communities he described as among the areas most affected by insecurity in the state.

According to him, criminal elements would no longer be allowed to use forests in Kwara as safe havens.

Igboho stressed that the Iru Ekun Security Network was not created to replace the Nigeria Police Force or other security agencies but to support ongoing efforts to restore peace and improve security.

He urged residents, especially young people, to cooperate with security agencies by exposing individuals who provide information or support to bandits, saying local collaboration has contributed to the persistence of insecurity.

The activist also dismissed claims that the security outfit was established to target Fulani people, insisting that its operations are directed solely at criminal elements regardless of their ethnic background.

He advised residents not to take the law into their own hands, urging them to hand over unarmed suspects to the police while maintaining that armed criminals threatening communities should be confronted by security agencies.

Igboho commended the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, for what he described as his professionalism and cooperation during previous security operations involving the police.

He also dismissed reports that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq opposed his visit to the state, expressing confidence that the governor remains committed to addressing the security challenges facing Kwara.

The activist further attributed the establishment of the Iru Ekun Security Network to President Bola Tinubu, thanking the President for his support and praying for the success of his administration.

The launch of the security outfit comes amid growing concerns over insecurity in parts of Kwara South Senatorial District, where repeated attacks by armed groups have reportedly displaced residents and disrupted community life.
