DADEOWO DEFENDS AIYEDATIWA OVER CHURCH VISIT, DISMISSES ANTI-PARTY ALLEGATION


Former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Ondo State on Special Interest, Apostle Temitope Olowofoyekun Dadeowo, has dismissed allegations suggesting that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa engaged in anti-party activities following the reported presence of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Ondo Central Senatorial candidate, Senator Allover, at a church service held within the Government House Chapel in Akure.

Reacting to a social media post by an APC chieftain identified as JAF, who alleged that the governor was supporting the ADC candidate and called on the APC National Secretariat to take note, Dadeowo described the claims as unfounded and a misrepresentation of the circumstances surrounding the visit.

According to Dadeowo, the Government House Chapel is a public place of worship where individuals are free to worship God regardless of their political affiliation. He argued that attendance at a church service should not be interpreted as political endorsement or evidence of anti-party activities.

He maintained that it would be inappropriate for the governor or any authority to deny individuals access to a place of worship because of political differences, stressing that places of worship are open to all.

Dadeowo further criticised the allegations against Governor Aiyedatiwa, stating that reading political motives into a religious gathering was unnecessary and capable of creating misconceptions among the public.

In his response, he also urged political actors to avoid personal attacks and focus on issues that promote unity and peaceful political engagement.

The former gubernatorial aide added that Governor Aiyedatiwa, as a Christian, remains committed to welcoming all worshippers without discrimination, irrespective of their political leanings.

The exchange follows ongoing political discussions in Ondo State as stakeholders position themselves ahead of future electoral contests.
