FG OPENS APPLICATIONS FOR LAPTOP, SMARTPHONE LOAN SCHEME; HERE'S HOW TO APPLY


The Federal Government has commenced applications for its newly launched Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices (C.L.I.C.K.D.) Programme, a consumer credit initiative designed to help Nigerians acquire laptops, smartphones, tablets and other digital devices through affordable installment payments.

The programme is being implemented by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy. It was officially unveiled in Abuja by the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, alongside the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CREDICORP, Uzoma Nwagba.

According to the Federal Government, the initiative aims to improve access to digital tools while supporting local manufacturing, with the pilot phase focusing on locally assembled laptops.

How to Apply

Interested applicants can follow these steps:

Visit the official application portal at credicorp.ng/clickd.

Click the "I'm Interested" button to access the application form.

Complete the required information, including:

State of residence.

Employment status (Salary Earner, Freelancer/Self-Employed, Business Owner, Student, Job Seeker or NYSC Member).

Monthly income (optional).

Participation in a digital talent programme such as 3MTT, Andela Learning Community, Learn2Earn, ALX Africa, HNG Internship, AltSchool Africa, Genesys Tech Hub, or others.

Preferred device (Laptop, Smartphone, Tablet or Other).

Purpose for requesting the device, including education, software development, content creation, remote work, business growth or freelancing.

How the applicant learned about the programme.

Confirm that the information provided is accurate, agree to be contacted regarding the application, and consent to CREDICORP using the submitted information to assess eligibility.

Submit the application.

Who Can Apply?

For the current pilot phase, the programme is limited to 1,000 laptops and is primarily targeted at fellows of the Federal Government's Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Programme.

According to CREDICORP Managing Director, Uzoma Nwagba, the rollout began in Abuja, where 77 beneficiaries have already received their devices, while additional qualified beneficiaries across other states will receive theirs in phases.

Although the application form includes participants from programmes such as Andela Learning Community, Learn2Earn, ALX Africa, HNG Internship, AltSchool Africa and Genesys Tech Hub, CREDICORP has so far publicly confirmed only 3MTT fellows as beneficiaries of the initial 1,000-laptop pilot.

The agency noted that further expansion of the programme is expected, similar to its broader consumer credit scheme launched in 2024, which initially targeted only federal civil servants before expanding to other Nigerians.

At the time of publication, CREDICORP has not announced the interest rates, repayment period or required down payment for the C.L.I.C.K.D. loan scheme.
