FLOOD EMERGENCY: CHAIRMAN ADEBARE STORMS AFFECTED COMMUNITIES, ORDERS IMMEDIATE GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION

The Executive Chairman of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, Hon. Adebare Adeboye, has visited communities affected by the recent flooding across the council area, assuring residents that immediate government intervention is underway to ease their hardship and prevent future occurrences.

During the inspection tour on Saturday, the Chairman assessed the extent of the damage in some of the worst-hit communities, interacted with affected residents, and received firsthand reports on the impact of the flooding on homes, businesses, public infrastructure, and livelihoods.

Speaking during the visit, Hon. Adebare expressed sympathy to families and property owners who suffered losses, describing the incident as unfortunate. He assured residents that the local government had already activated the necessary response mechanisms to provide immediate relief while implementing long-term flood control measures across vulnerable communities.

According to the Chairman, his administration remains committed to protecting lives and property, stressing that no affected community would be neglected.

"We are here not just to inspect the damage but to identify practical solutions. The safety and well-being of our people remain our utmost priority. I want to assure every affected resident that this administration will not leave you to bear this burden alone. Necessary actions have commenced, and our people will soon begin to see the impact of the interventions being put in place," he said.

Hon. Adebare was accompanied on the inspection by the Supervisor for Works, Hon. Lateef Oyebade; the Councillor representing Ile-Oluji Ward I, Hon. Akinfolarin Akinbusola (Florida); the Councillor representing Okeigbo Ward I, Hon. Michael Abayomi Ajayi; alongside other government officials, community stakeholders, and residents.

Residents who spoke during the visit commended the Executive Chairman for personally identifying with them during the difficult period, describing his prompt response as another demonstration of compassionate and people-centred leadership.

Several community members also recalled the Chairman's intervention during a previous flooding incident over a year ago, expressing confidence that the current administration would once again deliver practical and lasting solutions to flooding challenges in the affected communities.
