FLOOD RELIEF IN SIGHT AS LONG-AWAITED SWAMP BUGGY ARRIVES IN ILE-OLUJI/OKEIGBO, DREDGING BEGINS

Residents of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government have received a major boost in the fight against recurring flooding following the arrival of the long-awaited Swamp Buggy Excavator, which has immediately commenced dredging operations at critical flood-prone areas in Okeigbo Community.

The deployment of the specialized dredging machine marks the beginning of a large-scale environmental intervention by the administration of the Executive Chairman of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government, Hon. Adebare Adeboye, aimed at restoring free water flow, protecting lives and property, and providing a lasting solution to flooding challenges that have affected residents for years.

Work commenced on Friday at identified waterways in Okeigbo, where the Swamp Buggy is expected to operate for several weeks before moving to Ile-Oluji Community to continue the dredging exercise.

Speaking on the development, Hon. Adebare Adeboye described the arrival of the machine as another fulfilled promise by his administration, reaffirming his commitment to delivering practical and people-oriented projects that directly improve the lives of residents across the local government.

The council chairman expressed gratitude to Almighty God for the successful arrival of the Swamp Buggy and appreciated the Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for his continued support for developmental initiatives at the grassroots. According to him, the governor's commitment to infrastructure and environmental sustainability has continued to make impactful interventions possible across the state.

Hon. Adebare also thanked residents of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo for their patience, understanding, and unwavering support while awaiting the arrival of the m

achine. He acknowledged that although there were concerns over the delay, his administration remained resolute in ensuring that the project became a reality.

He further appealed to residents to support the ongoing exercise by keeping drainage channels and waterways free from refuse and other blockages, noting that government efforts alone cannot permanently solve flooding without community cooperation.

The commencement of the dredging exercise has been widely welcomed by residents of Okeigbo, many of whom described the intervention as long overdue. They commended the local government for fulfilling its promise and expressed optimism that the project would significantly reduce flooding, improve drainage, and safeguard homes, roads, and public infrastructure.

As the Swamp Buggy continues operations in Okeigbo before its deployment to Ile-Oluji, expectations are high that the exercise will deliver lasting environmental benefits and further demonstrate the commitment of the Adebare Adeboye administration to sustainable development and improved living conditions across the local government.
