HON. ADEBARE ASSURES RESIDENTS OF SWIFT RESPONSE, CALLS FOR VIGILANCE AS HEAVY RAINS CONTINUE


The Executive Chairman of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, Hon. Adebare Adeboye, has reassured residents of the council's commitment to protecting lives and property following the recent flooding that affected parts of Ile-Oluji and Okeigbo communities.

In a statement issued on Friday through his Special Assistant on Media, Otunba Oluwapelumi Akinsiku, the Chairman expressed sympathy to families whose homes, businesses, farmlands, and other valuable properties were impacted by the flooding, describing the incident as unfortunate and a reminder of the need for heightened preparedness during the ongoing rainy season.

Hon. Adebare assured affected residents that the local government stands firmly with them and is taking immediate steps to prevent a recurrence of the disaster. He urged residents, particularly those living in flood-prone and low-lying areas, to remain vigilant, avoid walking or driving through flooded roads, keep drainage channels around their homes free from blockages, and promptly report emergency situations to the appropriate authorities.

The Chairman disclosed that relevant departments of the local government have been directed to work closely with community leaders, emergency response agencies, and other stakeholders to intensify the clearing of drainage systems, strengthen public awareness campaigns, and implement sustainable flood control measures across vulnerable communities.

Reaffirming his administration's commitment to the safety and well-being of residents, Hon. Adebare said every necessary measure would be taken to improve community resilience against flooding and other environmental hazards.

He also called for the cooperation of residents with government officials and emergency responders, stressing that collective responsibility remains essential in safeguarding lives and protecting communities.

The Chairman offered prayers for God's protection over the people of Ile-Oluji and Okeigbo, while wishing affected families strength, comfort, and quick recovery from the impact of the flooding.
