ADELEKE CONDEMNS OSOGBO MOTOR PARK VIOLENCE, CALLS FOR ARREST OF ASIRI ENIBA


Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has condemned the disruption of public peace at motor parks in Osogbo, calling on security agencies to arrest Asiri Eniba and others allegedly involved in the incident.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Governor's spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke expressed concern over reports of shootings and the intimidation of residents and commuters at the Old Garage and other motor parks in the state capital.

The governor alleged that the attacks were carried out by Asiri Eniba and other individuals identified as members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming that the incidents caused fear among innocent residents.

According to the statement, videos circulating on social media allegedly show sporadic gunfire during the disturbances. The governor further alleged that police officers accompanied the group as they moved around motor parks in Osogbo.

Governor Adeleke said he has reported the matter to the Inspector-General of Police and other security chiefs, urging them to take immediate action.

"I have personally called the attention of the Inspector-General of Police and other service chiefs to these open attacks on public peace. I demand the immediate arrest of Asiri Eniba over what I consider an open defiance of public security," the statement quoted the governor as saying.

The governor questioned the motive behind actions that allegedly targeted commuters and disrupted activities at motor parks, stressing that such conduct threatens public safety.

He also indicated that the state government may reconsider its current support for the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in managing motor parks if the situation persists.

Governor Adeleke expressed confidence that the Alowonle-led leadership of the Osun State NURTW would take steps to restore order among its members.

He added that the government could reintroduce the Park Management System across motor parks in Osun State if the disturbances continue.
