ADELEKE DEMANDS PROSECUTION OF POLITICAL VIOLENCE SPONSORS, REAFFIRMS ZERO TOLERANCE FOR THUGGERY


Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his administration's zero-tolerance policy on political violence, insisting that anyone found culpable should be arrested and prosecuted regardless of political affiliation or personal relationship.

The governor accused some political actors of allegedly making public statements that could encourage attacks despite the intervention of security operatives, and called for strict enforcement of the law.

Speaking on the issue, Adeleke said he had directed security agencies to act without fear or favour, stressing that no individual should be shielded from investigation or prosecution.

"I have zero tolerance for violence. I have told the Inspector General of Police that if my son is involved, he should be arrested. I told the world we harbour no thugs anywhere, and the police can and should arrest any suspect. There must be strict law enforcement," the governor said.

His remarks came amid reports of the killing of another Accord Party member in Ijebu-Jesa.

According to the Osun State Government, five members of the Accord Party have been killed, while 15 others reportedly sustained critical injuries in attacks the government alleged were carried out by suspected APC thugs since campaigns for the 2026 Osun State governorship election commenced.

Governor Adeleke urged security agencies to go beyond arresting suspected perpetrators by identifying and prosecuting anyone found to have sponsored acts of political violence.

He also alleged that the public statements and actions of some senior APC leaders in the state warranted international sanctions, arguing that such measures could help discourage further political violence. The allegations have not been independently verified, and no official response from the APC regarding these claims was included in the report.
