INEC OPENS 2026 RECRUITMENT PORTAL FOR ENTRY-LEVEL POSITIONS


The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for various entry-level positions across the Commission.

According to the Commission, the recruitment is aimed at strengthening its capacity in electoral administration, voter registration, data management, election logistics, and other critical operations in line with its constitutional mandate.

Vacant Positions

INEC announced that applications are open for the following categories:

Professional Cadre (Lawyers, Clinical Officers, IT Officers, Engineers, Accountants, and other professionals) – Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12

Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) – Grade Level 08

Executive Officer (Assistant Registration Area Officer) – Grade Level 07

Qualifications

Professional Cadre (Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12)

Applicants must possess:

A Bachelor's degree or its equivalent and a Master's degree in the relevant field from a recognised institution.

Relevant professional certification where applicable, including COREN, NSE, ICAN, ANAN, MDCN, NBA, CPN, among others.

NYSC Discharge Certificate, Certificate of Exemption or Letter of Exclusion.

Demonstrable competence in the relevant field.

Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Computer proficiency and knowledge of digital tools.

Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) – Grade Level 08

Applicants must possess:

A Bachelor's Degree, Higher National Diploma (HND), or equivalent qualification in Social Sciences, Humanities, or Sciences.

NYSC Discharge Certificate, Certificate of Exemption, or Letter of Exclusion.

Good knowledge of data management and record keeping.

Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other ICT applications.

Executive Officer (Assistant Registration Area Officer) – Grade Level 07

Applicants must possess:

A National Certificate in Education (NCE) or its equivalent.

Basic computer knowledge and data handling skills.

Good communication and organisational abilities.

Ability to work effectively under supervision.

General Requirements

Applicants must:

Be Nigerian citizens by birth or descent.

Present a valid Certificate of State of Origin signed by the Chairman or Secretary of their Local Government.

Be computer literate.

Be certified medically fit by a Government Medical Officer.

Not be above 35 years at the time of application.

Possess good character with no criminal conviction.

Be willing to serve in any part of Nigeria.

Demonstrate integrity, discipline, and commitment to public service.

Applicants are required to:

Visit the recruitment portal.

Click on the "Vacancies" tab.

Complete the appropriate application form.

Upload all required credentials.

Submit the application online.

INEC stated that the recruitment exercise is free of charge, warning applicants against multiple applications, submission of false information, or forged documents, as such actions will lead to disqualification and possible prosecution.

The Commission also noted that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the next stage of the recruitment process.

Application Deadline

Applications opened on Monday, July 20, 2026, and will close on Monday, July 27, 2026.
