The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated its Reconciliation Committee as part of efforts to strengthen internal unity, promote harmony among members and consolidate the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The committee was inaugurated during a meeting held at the APC State Secretariat in Akure. The event was presided over by the Ondo State APC Chairman, Hon. Kolawole Babatunde, and attended by members of the committee, party leaders, members of the Elders' Forum and other stakeholders.

Speaking at the inauguration, Hon. Babatunde expressed appreciation to members of the committee for accepting the responsibility to serve the party at what he described as a crucial period. He also acknowledged the contributions of party elders, including Hon. Jamiu Ekungba and Elder Vincent Oyepata, commending their continued support and guidance.

The APC chairman also praised the Chairman of the Reconciliation Committee, Prince (Hon.) Biyi Poroye, describing him as an experienced party leader whose leadership qualities and commitment to the progressive movement make him well-suited for the assignment.

According to him, the establishment of the committee reflects the party's commitment to strengthening internal democracy, resolving grievances, reconciling aggrieved members and promoting inclusiveness across all levels of the APC in Ondo State.

He said the APC remains united and called on members to place the party's collective interest above individual ambitions as preparations continue for future elections.

Hon. Babatunde further reaffirmed the party's commitment to supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections. He stated that the party would work towards securing electoral victories in the presidential, National Assembly and Ondo State House of Assembly elections.

Acting on behalf of the Leader of the APC in Ondo State and Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, the state chairman formally inaugurated the committee and urged its members to discharge their responsibilities with sincerity, fairness, impartiality and dedication.

Responding on behalf of the committee, its chairman, Prince (Hon.) Biyi Poroye, thanked Governor Aiyedatiwa and the state party leadership for the confidence reposed in the committee.

He described the committee as a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening party unity and assured members that it would engage all stakeholders fairly while addressing issues affecting cohesion within the APC.

According to Poroye, the committee will be guided by the principles of fairness, justice, equity, inclusiveness and genuine reconciliation, adding that no genuine member of the party would be excluded from the reconciliation process.

He expressed confidence that the committee's work would restore confidence among members, reinforce internal cohesion and further strengthen the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.

Delivering the vote of thanks, Hon. Jamiu Ekungba commended the state chairman for constituting the committee, describing the initiative as timely and strategic.

He urged party members across Ondo State to embrace peace, reconciliation and unity, expressing optimism that the committee's work would contribute to a stronger and more united APC.

The inauguration of the Reconciliation Committee represents another step in the Ondo State APC's efforts to promote internal cohesion and prepare the party for future political activities.
