POLICE LAUNCH INVESTIGATION AFTER WOMAN'S BODY FOUND IN ONDO


The Ondo State Police Command has commenced an investigation following the discovery of the body of an unidentified woman in Ondo town.

According to the police, the body was found on Monday, July 13, 2026, along Barracks Road near the Government Reserved Area (GRA) Roundabout after authorities received a report from members of the public.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said officers were immediately deployed to the scene upon receiving the report.

He stated that preliminary findings indicated the victim had suffered severe injuries, while investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, establish the identity of the deceased, uncover the motive, and apprehend those responsible.

The command described the killing as a disturbing criminal act and assured residents that every available resource would be deployed to ensure those behind the incident are brought to justice.

DSP Jimoh appealed to members of the public with useful information that could assist the investigation to report to the nearest police station or contact the command through its emergency lines.

He added that the area remains calm, while adequate security measures have been put in place to safeguard residents as detectives continue their investigation.

The police have not yet released the identity of the deceased, and the investigation remains ongoing.
