POLICE TO ARRAIGN ALLEGED FAKE PRESIDENTIAL AGENCY DIRECTOR-GENERAL OVER FORGERY, IMPERSONATION CASE


The Nigeria Police Force is set to arraign Adeniyi Adeyemi, the alleged Director-General of the non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday over allegations of forgery, impersonation and related offences.

According to court documents marked FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025, Adeyemi and two other defendants are facing an eight-count charge bordering on forgery, impersonation and other alleged offences. The charge was filed on November 27, 2025, by police prosecutor Wisdom Madaki.

The case was initially scheduled for the defendants to take their plea on June 16, 2026, but proceedings were adjourned after Adeyemi was reported to be indisposed. Justice Mohammed Umar subsequently fixed Tuesday for the continuation of the matter.

The prosecution has listed several witnesses expected to testify during the trial, including the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, alongside Paul Emmanuel, Jeremiah Imoukhede and Ituah Sylvester.

Also listed are officials from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, Akimbo Shola and Adamu Balongu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police. Other witnesses include Ojo Victor, Omeh Amarachukwu and Wakili Saidu, who were reportedly posted to work with the alleged agency, as well as Joy Ngwoke, owner of Kachi Hotel in Abuja, and Ven. Okoriko of St. Matthew's Anglican Church, Maitama.

The prosecution intends to tender several documentary exhibits, including the police investigation report, a petition reportedly submitted by Gbajabiamila dated October 17, 2025, an alleged fake presidential appointment letter dated March 8, 2024, correspondence with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, approvals relating to accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), documents submitted to the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, and other official records connected to the alleged operations of the PFIPC.

According to the charge, the prosecution reserves the right to call additional witnesses during the trial if necessary.

Police alleged that Adeyemi operated the fictitious agency from the second floor of the Federal Secretariat Complex, Phase III, Abuja, before his arrest.

The development follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's directive to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the activities of the alleged fake agency. The President reportedly gave the anti-corruption commission 30 days to conclude its investigation.

The Federal High Court is expected to commence proceedings on the matter when the defendants are arraigned.
