TINUBU RECEIVES NBA PRESIDENT-ELECT, WOMEN LAWYERS AT STATE HOUSE


President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday received the President-elect of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mrs Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, during a courtesy visit to the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The visit comes ahead of Badejo-Okusanya's formal inauguration as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association at the association's Annual General Conference scheduled to hold in Enugu next month.

She was accompanied by prominent women in the legal profession, including the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Caleb University, Prof. Foluke Dada-Lawanson; the President of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria, Mrs Ezinwa Okoroafor; the FCT Lead of the NBA Women Forum, Princess Hadiza Afegbua; and the BBold Campaign Team Publicity Lead, Mrs Ramlat Ridhwan.

Badejo-Okusanya emerged winner of the NBA national election after securing 9,891 votes, making history as the second woman to lead the association. She follows Chief Priscilla Kuye, who served as NBA President between 1991 and 1992.

She is expected to succeed the outgoing NBA President, Afam Osigwe, SAN, and will serve a two-year tenure upon assuming office.

The courtesy visit highlighted the engagement between the Presidency and leaders of Nigeria's legal profession ahead of the leadership transition within the Nigerian Bar Association.
