GOVERNOR AIYEDATIWA, DANGOTE HOLD HIGH-LEVEL TALKS ON OLOKOLA FREE TRADE ZONE DEVELOPMENT

Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Saturday held a strategic meeting with the Founder and President of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, in Lagos to advance discussions on the proposed Olokola Free Trade Zone (FTZ) project.

The meeting forms part of ongoing engagements between the Ondo State Government and the Dangote Group aimed at accelerating the development of the Olokola FTZ into a major industrial and economic hub.

Speaking after the meeting, Governor Aiyedatiwa said discussions centered on practical steps to fast-track the project, leveraging Ondo State's strategic coastal location, deep seaport potential, and abundant natural resources to attract large-scale investments.

The Governor described the Olokola Free Trade Zone as one of the flagship projects under his administration's OUR EASE development agenda, noting that its successful development is expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs, stimulate economic growth, and position Ondo State as a leading industrial and maritime destination in Nigeria.

According to Governor Aiyedatiwa, both parties reviewed the progress made on the project and agreed to intensify technical engagements, infrastructure planning, and private sector collaboration to ensure its successful implementation.

He also commended Alhaji Dangote for his continued interest in investing in Ondo State and for his commitment to Nigeria's industrial development, reaffirming his administration's readiness to provide the necessary policy support, incentives, and enabling environment for the project's timely take-off.

The proposed Olokola Free Trade Zone is expected to serve as a multi-sector industrial hub, with the capacity to attract local and foreign investments while boosting economic activities in Ondo State and the wider Southwest region.
