OPOMULERO GROUP DISMISSES GOVERNANCE SURVEY, DEFENDS AIYEDATIWA'S PERFORMANCE IN ONDO


The Opomulero Group has rejected a recent article by Adewale Momoh titled "Ondo Leads in Poor Governance Ratings," describing it as a deliberate misrepresentation of the realities of governance in Ondo State.

In a statement signed by its Director General, Hon. Olasupo Olakunori Michael, the group criticised the report for relying on what it described as an unverified perception survey, arguing that it failed to reflect the achievements recorded under the administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.

According to the group, the publication presented a one-sided narrative by amplifying the findings of a private organisation without acknowledging ongoing developmental projects and government initiatives across the state.

The statement maintained that Governor Aiyedatiwa assumed office amid significant challenges but has since demonstrated prudent leadership, transparency, and commitment to improving the welfare of residents. It cited infrastructure development, regular payment of workers' salaries, settlement of pension and gratuity obligations, road rehabilitation, investments in healthcare, agricultural development, youth empowerment, and support for education as evidence of the administration's performance.

The Opomulero Group also disputed claims that the government had failed to create employment opportunities. It stated that more than 5,000 Ondo State indigenes have reportedly secured employment within the past year through recruitment into the teaching service, healthcare sector, Amotekun Corps, the Forest Guard initiative, and other government agencies.

The group further argued that describing Ondo State as the poorest-performing state in governance ignores what it called measurable achievements, including efforts to reduce the state's debt profile, strengthen security collaboration, expand healthcare infrastructure, and implement strategic development projects.

It urged critics to assess governance through direct observation of projects and programmes across the state rather than relying solely on perception-based surveys.

The statement added that governance should be evaluated using indicators such as infrastructure delivery, prudent financial management, institutional reforms, security improvements, and the impact of government policies on citizens.

The Opomulero Group called on members of the public to disregard what it described as sensational reports intended to create a false narrative about the current administration, insisting that residents of Ondo State are witnessing ongoing development under Governor Aiyedatiwa's leadership.

It reaffirmed its confidence in the governor's commitment to sustainable development, job creation, improved healthcare and education, and continued infrastructure expansion across the state.
