PRINCIPAL CONSIDERS EXITING TEACHING AFTER 28 YEARS OF SERVICE

The Principal of Esiele Community High School in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Mrs. Rachael Alamu, has revealed that she is considering leaving the teaching profession following the traumatic abduction incident that affected her school community.

Speaking after the rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers, Mrs. Alamu said the experience had left her deeply shaken and uncertain about returning to the rural school where she has served.

According to her, the daily commute from Ogbomoso to Esiele had already been physically demanding before the incident occurred.

"Moving from Ogbomoso to Esiele, Monday through Friday, had already been a significant challenge for me. And now, with this abduction incident, I have only four years left before retirement, which makes me uncertain about returning to the village," she said.

Mrs. Alamu noted that after dedicating 28 years to the teaching profession, the security concerns raised by the abduction have prompted her to reconsider whether she should continue working in the community.

Her remarks come in the wake of the recent rescue of pupils and teachers who were abducted in Oyo State, an incident that renewed concerns over the safety of schools, particularly those located in rural communities.
