RESCUE ABDUCTED BORNO SCHOOLCHILDREN TOO, NORTHERN COALITION URGES TINUBU, COMMENDS RELEASE OF OYO PUPILS AND TEACHERS

A coalition of northern groups has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intensify efforts toward securing the release of schoolchildren reportedly abducted in Borno State, while commending the successful rescue of pupils and teachers recently freed in Oyo State.

The coalition praised the coordinated efforts of security agencies that led to the safe rescue of the Oyo victims, describing the development as encouraging for families and communities affected by kidnapping across the country.

According to the group, the same level of commitment and security coordination should be extended to the rescue of the abducted Borno schoolchildren and other victims still being held by criminal groups.

The coalition urged the Federal Government to sustain ongoing security operations and strengthen intelligence gathering to ensure that all kidnapped Nigerians, regardless of their location, are rescued safely.

It also appealed to the government to continue prioritising the protection of schools, students and teachers, noting that access to education should never be threatened by insecurity.

The group expressed hope that the success recorded in Oyo State would inspire renewed efforts to secure the freedom of every remaining kidnap victim across the country.

Security authorities have continued operations in different parts of Nigeria as part of efforts to combat kidnapping, banditry and other security threats.
