Hon. Festus Olarewaju Akingbaso, the lawmaker representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, on Saturday embarked on a thank-you tour across Idanre Kingdom to appreciate supporters following his emergence and confirmation as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election.

The well-attended gathering brought together APC leaders, party faithful, traditional and community leaders, youths, women groups and supporters from across the districts in Idanre Local Government Area.

Addressing the gathering, Akingbaso described the visit as an opportunity to personally thank the people for the confidence, love and support they have continued to show him throughout his political journey.

"I came to appreciate you for the love and support. We are just getting started. In two months' time, campaign will commence," he declared.

The federal lawmaker, who was first elected into the House of Representatives in 2023 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before joining the APC, said his emergence as the party's candidate was made possible through the collective efforts of leaders and members of the party.

He expressed profound appreciation to APC leaders at the state and local levels, community leaders, stakeholders and party members from every district in Idanre for their unwavering commitment. He also acknowledged the roles played by APC State Executive members, including Hon. Vincent Akinjide, Hon. Aribigbola, former state executives and other dignitaries who coordinated and supported the process.

Akingbaso further thanked every individual who worked for his victory, including political associates, coordinators, volunteers and supporters, stressing that the success belonged to everyone who stood by him throughout the process.

Speaking on the victory rally, the lawmaker commended residents for demonstrating political maturity and maintaining peace throughout the celebration.

According to him, the event was conducted without violence or security breaches, while no participant was found carrying illegal weapons or dangerous objects.

He noted that the peaceful atmosphere further proved that the people of Idanre are law-abiding and should not be wrongly portrayed as violent.

The lawmaker also appreciated the Commissioner of Police, other security agencies and all security personnel deployed for ensuring a peaceful and orderly event. He equally thanked the youths of Idanre—both young men and women—for their discipline,







cooperation and peaceful participation.

Reaffirming his commitment to quality representation, Akingbaso assured constituents that his style of leadership would remain focused on service and development.

"I will not change. I shall continue with good deeds for the people of my constituency," he said.

Looking ahead, Akingbaso announced that the appreciation tour would continue on Tuesday in Ifedore Local Government Area with a gathering in Igbara-Oke.

He disclosed that the visit would also feature the official flag-off of a Federal Fire Service Station approved by the Federal Government, describing the project as one facilitated through his representation of Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency.

According to him, the facility will enhance emergency response services, improve public safety and further expand the presence of critical federal infrastructure within the constituency.

The lawmaker also used the occasion to rally support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election, urging party members and residents to remain united behind the APC.

He said the re-election of President Tinubu would ensure continuity of ongoing reforms and developmental programmes, expressing confidence that the party would secure victory through sustained grassroots mobilisation and the continued support of the people.
