WIKE SAYS FUBARA COMMITTED NO OFFENCE, WELCOMES RECONCILIATION TO POLITICAL FAMILY


The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed claims that Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, committed any wrongdoing by reconciling with his political camp, stating that "there is no sin in politics."

Speaking with journalists on Tuesday after inspecting ongoing road projects in the Federal Capital Territory, Wike said Fubara's decision to reunite with the political structure that supported his emergence as governor was a positive development.

According to the minister, politics is about making decisions that advance collective goals, adding that there is nothing wrong with correcting past political differences.

Wike noted that he had earlier predicted that Fubara would eventually return to the political family that produced him, describing the governor's public declaration as a welcome step.

He expressed confidence that the renewed alliance would strengthen political cooperation in Rivers State and enhance efforts to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.

Fubara recently announced his return to Wike's political family during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Rivien Medical Industry project in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. At the event, the governor endorsed President Tinubu for a second term and urged his supporters to work with the Rainbow Coalition, saying the period of political crisis in the state had Beyond politics, Wike also reviewed the progress of major infrastructure projects in the FCT, including the ISEX Road Corridor and the Apo-Karshi Road. He expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and said the administration remained committed to completing inherited projects rather than abandoning them.

He added that contractors had assured the government that the ISEX Road project would be ready for commissioning in December, subject to the timely release of funds, stressing that continuity in governance is essential for sustainable development.
